As the first major market of the year, the European Film Market with its EFM Industry Sessions programme (14-18.02.2025) offers the perfect stage to discuss the trends and ideas that will engage the industry in the coming film year. They comprise a diverse industry programme consisting of talks, roundtables, masterclasses and interactive workshops in connection with the DocSalon and the Archive Market, the Innovation Hub and the EFM Startup Programme.

The aim of the EFM Industry Sessions is to transfer knowledge, promote practice-orientated learning, networking, exchange, and inspiration as well as open up new perspectives.

International experts from various areas of the creative industries will provide valuable insights and impulses on topics such as the future of European cinema, the state of global financing, the influence of new technologies on industry processes, macro trends and challenges across the production landscape, innovative marketing strategies in film distribution, interesting tools and business models from the gaming industry, as well as equal opportunities and women in management positions.

In the “Consult the Experts” sessions, accredited market participants have the opportunity to receive personalised advice from producers, festival curators and distribution specialists. New formats designed to promote networking and exchange and facilitate new business contacts include the daily Breakfast Club, the Happy Innovation Hour and the DocSalon Apéros.

Among the almost 100 international guests will be Effie Brown (Gamechanger), Roeg Sutherland (CAA), Jennifer Ebell (Fifth Season), Christine Langan (Bonnie Productions), Clare Binns (Picturehouse), Dede Gardner (Plan B), David Larkin (Letterboxd), Karin Chien (Art & Action Productions), George Hamilton (Protagonist Pictures), Susan Liddy (WIFT), Nataly Kudiabor (UFA FICTION).

In addition to the panel discussions, there will be 14 interactive panels and workshops for producers at the EFM Producers Hub in the Gropius Bau, organised by experienced and well-known international experts including Microsoft with a focus on AI, Vimeo, Publikum.io, ACE Producers, EAVE, European Producers Club, FilmChain, Usheru, EcoProd and Eurimages.

Panels and workshops such as Using AI-backed Anthropology to Build Strong Audience Awareness, AI Playbook 101: Everyday Tools for the Independent Producer or Art of the Prompt – A Pitchdeck that Sells, for example, will address the now established but constantly evolving topic of artificial intelligence.

The EFM Industry Sessions also aim to make a contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
