Mirroring Michael Jackson – “To be him is to honor him”

BERLIN (February 18, 2018) – DocMode, the documentary arm of Clay Epstein’s Film Mode Entertainment that focuses on award-winning documentaries that impact the world, along with Kalliope Films are pleased to announce the acquisition and EFM world market premiere of MIRRORING MICHAEL JACKSON during the 2018 Berlin Film Festival.

MIRRORING MICHAEL JACKSON is a documentary about faithful Michael Jackson fans across the globe who devote their lives to honoring his legacy by “being him” as tribute artists.  The film unifies devoted fans from all walks of life, from all corners of the earth, as it focuses on celebrating and honoring The King of Pop.  A special treat for loyal MJ fans comes in the form of appearances by Michael Jackson's own bass player of ten years, Alex Al, who is composing and producing the score for the documentary film together with Pete Merriweather (music producer and drummer of multi-platinum recording artists, En Vogue).

Made in loving memory of the legendary Michael Jackson, the film focuses on tribute artists embodying the spirit of Michael Jackson.  Buyers in Berlin will be among the first to experience the select footage of this spectacular film that transcends culture and language and delivers heart-warming, jaw-dropping and inspirational tributes to the man who has been influencing generations of fans and artists alike for decades, and continues to do so.

“We are huge fans of Michael Jackson and honored that Kira has trusted us with this incredible love letter to the King of Pop.  Audiences are going to be blown away by the talent in the film, and be inspired to continue his legacy,” said Clay Epstein, President of Film Mode Entertainment.

"Since Michael Jackson's passing, his legion of fans has looked to the MJ tribute artists for comfort and solace as a way to cope with their immense loss. We believe that now, more than ever before, the story of these remarkable and talented MICHAEL JACKSON tribute artists needs to be told. The film itself is a tribute. It is in loving memory of Michael Jackson." Says producer Kira Madallo Sesay. “To be him is to honor him.”

Still the highest selling artist of all time with over $1 billion total worldwide sales to his credit, and growing, Michael Jackson will remain a soundtrack for generations. His followers also number in the billions and continue to grow, and you can find the fundamentals in his music, unique to Jackson’s style, in the music of various, multiple-award winning artists today from Justin Timberlake to Bruno Mars and beyond.

Further evidence of this global phenomenon can be found in the feature documentary, THIS IS IT, which has earned over $260M to date, and the hit show in London’s famous West End, “Thriller Live”, which has been playing to sold-out crowd for six consecutive years at the historic Lyric Theatre.

DocMode is representing worldwide rights on MIRRORING MICHAEL JACKSON.
