Anya Taylor-Joy in talks to join Kristin Scott Thomas’ directorial debut THE SEA CHANGE· Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, The Witch) is in talks to join Academy Award Nominee Kristin Scott Thomas’ directorial debut, The Sea Change, a romantic drama which is based on Elizabeth Jane Howard’s critically acclaimed novel of the same name. Scott Thomas will star alongside Mark Strong who is in talks to join.
· Rocket Science is handling world sales and introduced the film in Berlin this week. Rebecca Lenkiewicz adapted the novel for the screen and Barnaby Thompson (Easy Virtue, The Importance of Being Earnest, St Trinian’s) will produce for Fragile Films. Principal photography is scheduled to begin later this year in the UK and Europe.
· Taylor-Joy is currently starring in M. Night Shyamalan’s box office and breakout hit Split for Universal Pictures and Thoroughbred for Focus Features. She was nominated for a BAFTA in 2017, for the Rising Star Award and is in post-production on the thriller Marrowbone for Lionsgate.
· The Sea Change is about a group of people who re-evaluate loss, love, and human connection when they find themselves together on a remote Greek island. Emmanuel (Mark Strong) is a successful London playwright, married to the complex and witty Lillian (Kristin Scott Thomas) for many years, but their marriage is in crisis, a crisis which is overcome by the arrival of a curious and outspoken young girl, Alice (Anya Taylor-Joy). Their relationship is thrown into perspective when her life is thrown upside down.
· Rocket Science was launched by Thorsten Schumacher as a multi-faceted venture engineered for production, finance, sales and distribution. The company recently announced they are handling international sales on Bubbles, which Taika Waititi and Mark Gustafson will direct and Harmony Korine’s The Beach Bum starring Matthew McConaughey. Additional sales projects include: David Lowery’s The Old Man and the Gun, starring Robert Redford and Casey Affleck; Dominic Cooke’s film adaption On Chesil Beach starring Saoirse Ronan; and Juliet, Naked for Judd Apatow.
