VdR–Industry Awards!
It’s been a week already and today is the last day of VdR–Industry. Opening Scenes Lab, In Between, Pietro Marcello’s Masterclass, the 3rd and last Industry Talk and of course the VdR–Industry Awards.
VdR–Industry announces its Awards
The VdR-Industry Awards 2021 were announced yesterday evening. The ceremony took place as a hybrid event in Nyon and on the VdR–Industry online platform. With its numerous prizes and grants, VdR-Industry and its partners once again reaffirm their determination to support independent documentary filmmaking in all its diversity.
Our prestigious jurors have given 17 awards in total to the selected projects, including:
visions sud est Award (10’000 CHF) dedicated to the Global South and East projects has been given to The Vanishing by Rama Thiaw, produced by Yannis Gaye (Boul Fallé Images), Sénégal, and Jean-Laurent Csinidis (Films de Force Majeure), France.

This year, Opening Scenes Lab activities took place both online and on-site. Opening Scenes Lab is a tailor-made programme for filmmakers presenting their first short film or student film in the Official Selection. It offers the filmmakers the opportunity to get better acquainted with the international market and its decision makers.
The last few days have been very fertile for the 18 filmmakers. They had personal tutoring with Teboho Edkins and Wouter Jansen, they also participated in different talks and sessions to understand how to work with a producer, how to set up a festival’s strategy and what could be distribution opportunities for their short films.

In two artists’ work sessions, In Between is an event meant for artists, producers and other professionals from both the visual arts and film contexts to meet and work around the development of two projects. The first session took place yesterday online in a fruitful atmosphere, looking forward to follow the second one today.

Masterclass of Pietro Marcello will take place this afternoon!

As part of our Ateliers 2021, Italian director Pietro Marcello (Bella e Perduta, Martin Eden) will give today a Masterclass live from Paris 15:00 to 18:00.
This Masterclass will be broadcasted from our Visions du Réel Studio in Nyon. Pietro Marcello is invited in collaboration with the Haute école d'art et de design - Genève (HEAD).
