2008 CMJ Film Festival NYC Premiere of “Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison” available on DVD

By Maria Esteves - October 28, 2008

The CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival 2008 (CMJ08), New York City Premiere of JOHNNNY CASH AT FOLSOM PRISON, directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Bestor Cram, was held at the New York University Cantor Film Center, Friday, October 24, 6:00 P.M. A special Q&A immediately followed with director Bestor Cram, John Carter Cash, writer Michael Streissguth, assistant editor Tim Raycroft, Northern Light Productions, and renowned rock 'n' roll photographer Jim Marshall, moderated by founder/executive producer Mark Marabella, MARABELLA PRODUCTIONS.

JOHNNNY CASH AT FOLSOM PRISON is a passionate, inspirational, and provocative historical documentary film based on legendary country music singer Johhny Cash (1932-2003) concert recordings from Folsom State Prison, Represa, CA.

On Saturday, January 13, 1968, the "Man in Black" Johnny Cash by faith began ministering to prison inmates through music. Johnny Cash and Reverend Billy Graham were instrumental in getting Glen Sherley out of Folsom State Prison. The influential biography includes live footage from inside Folsom State Prison; interviews with former Cash band member Marty Stuart, singer/song writer Rosanne Cash, singer/songwriter Merle Haggard, musician/producer John Carter Cash, Ronda Sherley, and former Folsom inmate Millard Dedmon.
