NYFF50 Zemeckis’s Flight Press Conference Coverage

By Maria Esteves – October 15, 2012

The 50th New York Film Festival 2012 (NYFF50) presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center Closing Night World Premiere press screening of FLIGHT, by Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis was held at the Walter Reade Theater, Sunday, October 14, 9:00 AM. A live press conference immediately followed with director Zemeckis, screenwriter John Gatins, casts members John Goodman, Don Cheadle, Melissa Leo, Bruce Greenwood and Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington moderated by Film Society program director Richard Pena, NYFF selection committee chair.

Question posed by Richard Pena to cast members: What was it about your character that you most wanted to try to get across? In your character, did you feel that you really wanted to nail this person or you were trying to stand back and just wanted the facts? Questions posed by the audience to director Zemeckis and screenwriter John Gatins included: What attracted you to the script? Define the character of Whip? Did Paramount Pictures try to change the film to be homogenous?

FLIGHT Opens Friday, November 2 (All Souls Day) at Select Theaters. Watch Trailer
