Vincent Patar and Stéphane Aubier, "Panic in Town" directors coming to Beijing
The Belgium directors of "Panic in town", Vincent Patar and Stéphane Aubier, came to Beijing from Thursday, March 4 to Sunday, March 8 to present to the Chinese audience their animation film. The film is a 70 minutes animation in which the caracters are small plastic figurines and home-made settings, the movement being done by taking a picture of every frame. A long process that took them 5 years in total from the writing of the script to the whole shooting. Apart from showing their newly released film, their also went to different schools and universities to explain to the students how they work and their influences. On Friday, the two directors explained to more than 40 primary school children the little bits and pieces of their animation film, happy to show them that even as adults you can still play and enjoy toys of all kinds. The lesson ended with Vincent and Stéphane making in front of the children a small animation of a few seconds with small plastic figurines and a cardbox house, telling the story of Indian and Coboy knoking at the door of a lion's house! No need to tell that the children loved it! The Belgium duo also performed 2 master class in different universities in Beijing (Beijing Film Academy and Communication University of China) where they debated with the students studing in the animation departement the magic of film making. They received a very warm welcome in both their performances, the students finding their home-made rocky style very attractive. Tonight is the last screening of their film "Panic in town" at the Canadian International School, the directors giving a last chance for the audience to ask their questions. Two other directors are coming to Beijing to take part in the francophonie film festival : Férid Boughédir, Tunisian director of "A summer in la Goulette" as well as Mansour Sora Wade, Senegalese director of "The Price of Forgiveness" who will as well meet with the press and students. No need to tell that the audience will be equally pleased to meet them! 08.03.2010 | Art Genesis's blog Cat. : animation Beijing Beijing Film Academy CDATA Communication University of China Communication University of China Entertainment Entertainment Férid Boughedir Mansour Sora Wade Person Location Person Travel Stéphane Aubier The Price of Forgiveness Vincent Patar
