Andrew Garrett is an animation (and occasionally live-action) screenwriter.  Tech-savvy but story-driven, he is a sublime contradiction of history buff and computer geek, tracking down his story anywhere it lives.

His most successful story, Louisiana animal fable "Local Sugar", is loosely based on the famous folk song "Froggy Went A-Courtin'".  It won "Best Screenplay - Animation" at the 2014 International Family Film Festival (IFFF), and has gathered up a crop of wins and places.

"Barn Dance" (working title) - animated musical short

user
Hello, all! I am currently developing a short animated musical film with a lot of Cow-reography, tentatively titled "Barn Dance". If the story stands (and dances!) on its own, maybe even makes some headway in festivals, I am hoping to milk that for all it is worth--to get permission to use a specific piece of music.  If that doesn't work, I can come up with some music on my own or enlist help, but it was written with one song in mind. About AnimWriter

Garrett Andrew

Andrew Garrett grew up in rural and not-so-rural parts of Oklahoma, and is of Irish, English, and Native American descent. A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School (Tulsa) and Oklahoma City University, he beat his head against the brick wall of science for a while before giving in and “coming home” to English. A bout with Ewing's Sarcoma bone cancer in 1999 made him rethink his priorities; he and his new bride packed up and transplanted themselves to the Greater Los Angeles area. He has mostly worked in the video game industry for the last decade (and has most recently followed it to Las Vegas)--he plies his trade by day and tries his plays by night.
