Arclight Films closes deal for the science fiction romance feature film Ederlezi Rising with Grindstone Entertainment

Leading international sales company Arclight Films has finalized its North American distribution deal for the science fiction romance feature film Ederlezi Rising with Grindstone Entertainment, it was announced today by Arclight Films CEO Gary Hamilton. The Grindstone Entertainment acquisition will be a Lionsgate Home Entertainment release in March 2019.

Producer Jonathan English and Arclight’s Ruzanna Kegeyan negotiated the domestic deal with Stan Wertlieb and Ryan Black of Grindstone Entertainment.

Ederlezi Rising has proven to be an audience charmer both on the festival circuit and in the marketplace,” said Hamilton. “We are delighted to be in business with the outstanding Grindstone team again and know that they are going to be great partners on this fun and adventurous film.”

Grindstone’s Stan Wertlieb and Ryan Black both agreed, “Ederlezi Rising is as original a sci-fi film as we have seen in years.  Artificial intelligence will never be the same.”

Ederlezi Rising stars acclaimed actor Sebastian Cavazza (If I Were Someone, Short Circuits) and international adult star Stoya in the pulse pounding science fiction romance set in the near future aboard a pioneering space station championed by the multinational Ederlezi Corporation. Cosmonaut Mllutin, who leads the mission to explore the star system Alpha Centauri, is accompanied by Nimani, a female android programmed to fulfill all his needs and desires.

Arclight Films is handling worldwide rights to the feature and launched sales on the heart racing title at the recent European Film Market in Berlin. The film recently premiered at the International Film Festival Belgrade where it was awarded prizes for Best Actor for Cavazza and Best Actress for Stoya. The director Lazar Bodroza was awarded the best director prize and a Special Recognition from the festival jury. The film unanimously won The Belgrade Victor Award for Best Serbian Film. Ederlezi Rising was also nominated for best European Film at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival.

Directed by Lazar Bodroza from the script by Dimitrije Vojnov and story by Zoran Neskovic, the unique romance is produced by Aleksandar Protic, Jonathan English, and the Film Center Serbia.
