Well Go USA acquires North American rights for action film MAX CLOUD

Scott Adkins, John Hannah, Captain Marvel’s Lashana Lynch and Tommy Flanagan round out all-star cast

Leading independent distributor Well Go USA has secured North American distribution rights for action-packed sci-fi comedy MAX CLOUD. The film, directed by Martin Owen (Twist, Killer’s Anonymous, Let’s Be Evil), stars powerhouse martial artist Scott Adkins (IP MAN 4: THE FINALE, TRIPLE THREAT) alongside John Hannah (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Spartacus), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel, upcoming James Bond film No Time to Die) and Tommy Flanagan (Westworld, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Braveheart). MAX CLOUD is slated for a digital on-demand release in December.

“MAX CLOUD is a genre-bender in the best possible way, and it’s a treat to see Scott Adkins branch out into a comedic role and nail it,” said Doris Pfardrescher, president and CEO of Well Go USA Entertainment. “This is a fun, funny and fast-paced film with appeal for fans of genres from comedy and sci-fi to action and martial arts, and it’s a must-watch for anyone nostalgic for the era of classics like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.”

MAX CLOUD transports viewers back to the era of classic video games, when crimped hair was as hip as velour tracksuits and Animal Crossing and Fortnite were perhaps closer to alien technology than to reality. When teen gamer Sarah accidentally opens a secret portal hidden in her favorite side-scroller, she finds herself trapped in an intergalactic prison home to the galaxy’s most dangerous villains. To escape the terrifying planet, she must team up with space hero Max Cloud (Adkins) to battle the wacky and notorious Revengor (Hannah)—an out-of-this-world menace who credits 80s aerobics videos from Earth with his “tip-top” shape—and the even more insidious evil mastermind Shee (Lynch). For Sarah, it’s either finish the game, aided by her own not-so-savvy best friend on the outside...or remain a 16-bit character forever.

While most of the international rights to MAX CLOUD have been sold, a handful of territories remain available, including Japan, Australia, Germany, the UK and China.

Supporting cast includes Franz Drameh (Edge of Tomorrow, Attack the Block, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Gentlemen), Elliott Langridge (Northern Soul, Peripheral), Sally Collett (Killers Anonymous, Twist), Sam Hazeldine (The Innocents, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Peaky Blinders, The Hitman’s Bodyguard), Andi Osho (Shazam!, Light’s Out, I May Destroy You) and Isabelle Allen (Les Misérables, Killers Anonymous). MAX CLOUD was written by Sally Collett and Martin Owen and produced by Matt Williams (Killers Anonymous, Let’s Be Evil, Twist), Alan Latham (Property of the State, In Extremis), Tom Mattinson (Macbeth, Dead Man Running) and Phil McKenzie (Killers Anonymous, Waiting for Anya, Dark Encounter). Loni Farhi, Phillippe Martinez, and Goldfinch’s Kirsty Bell serve as executive producers.
