MUBI picked UK and Irish rights to Małgorzata Szumowska’s English language debut THE OTHER LAMB

Curated global streaming service and theatrical distributor MUBI have acquired UK and Irish rights to Małgorzata Szumowska’s striking English language debut THE OTHER LAMB.

THE OTHER LAMB is the haunting and nightmarish tale of Selah (Raffey Cassidy - VOX LUX, THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER), a young girl born into an all-female religious group known as ‘The Flock’ led by one man, known as Shepherd (Michiel Huisman - GAME OF THRONES). When Selah meets an outcast wife (Denise Gough - JIMMY’S HALL, COLETTE) and takes part in a shocking and transformative ritual, she begins to experience strange visions and starts to question the reality of everything around her.

Directed by Małgorzata Szumowska (BODY, MUG, ELLES), THE OTHER LAMB is produced by Academy Award®-nominee David Lancaster and Stephanie Wilcox of Rumble Films (WHIPLASH, NIGHTCRAWLER, EYE IN THE SKY) together with Aoife O’Sullivan and Tristan Orpen Lynch of Subotica (MISS JULIE, 2014; YOUNG ONES, 2014), Danish producer Marie Gade Denessen of Zentropa (THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT, 2018; THE HUNT, 2012) and in co-production with Umedia (MY BRILLIANT FRIEND, 2019; MANDY, 2018).

The film, which received its World Premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival followed by its UK Premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, is executive produced by Julia Godzinskaya, Will Norton, and Sophie Vickers of Rooks Nest Entertainment and Jon Shiffman and Andrew Schwartzberg of Rumble Films. The film is made with the participation of Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland and is an official Irish-Belgian co-production.

Efe Cakarel, Founder and CEO of MUBI, has said: "Małgorzata’s vision is striking, bold and vital – we are thrilled to be working with one of the most exciting new Polish voices on her English language debut as we continue MUBI’s commitment to championing emerging talent.”

MUBI has acquired UK and Irish theatrical and streaming rights in a deal which was negotiated between Kevin Chan, MUBI and Susan Wendt, Managing Director, TrustNordisk.

MUBI upcoming releases include Kleber Mendonça Filho’s siege thriller BACURAU, Luca Guadagnino’s THE STAGGERING GIRL, Diao Yinan’s neo-noir THE WILD GOOSE LAKE and Pablo Larraín’s electrifying EMA.
