Kaleidoscope Film Distribution at AFM 2014

Kaleidoscope Film Distribution (KFD) today announces three major new premieres for The American Film Market: monster-horror, DIGGING UP THE MARROW, from Director of Frozen and Hatchet, Adam Green; thriller, THE LAST SURVIVORS; and sports documentary, LIFE IN EXTREMES.

In DIGGING UP THE MARROW, filmmaker Adam Green receives a package from a strange man (Ray Wise -  Twin Peaks, X-Men: First Class, Robocop) claiming that he can prove that monsters exist. As the lines between fantasy and reality are increasingly blurred, he and his crew are taken on a mysterious, fantastical, and terrifying journey into the shadows and deep underground.

Written and directed by Green an inspired by the original monster genre art of artist and Executive Producer, Alex Pardee, DIGGING UP THE MARROW was in the Official Selection at Frightfest this year.   The deal was signed by Caroline Stern, Director of Sales & Acquisition, KFD, and Cory Neal of The Hacienda Film Co.

Adam Green commented: “DIGGING UP THE MARROW is the result of an incredibly rewarding four year creative collaboration.  It's a very unique film in that it blends reality so tightly with fantasy and doesn't neatly fit into any specific sub-genre that has come before it. We've been thrilled by the overwhelmingly positive response that ‘Marrow’ has received at early screenings”

Starring Hayley Lu Richardson and Booboo Stewart (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Twilight), THE LAST SURVIVORS follows two teenagers battling to survive in a vast and barren valley, where it has not rained for ten years.  As the rain dried up, the rules of society simply blew away, leaving them to single-handedly fight off a gang of bloodthirsty mercenaries, hell bent on seizing their most precious possession, a small water-bearing well.

A premiere at The LA Film Festival, THE LAST SURVIVORS is directed by first-timer, Thomas S Hammock  (production designer on You’re Next, V/H/S 2 and The Guest) and produced by Chris Harding (The Guest, You’re Next).  The deal was signed by Stern and Dante Federighi of Federighi Films.

Executive Producer Dante Federighi said: “We are really thrilled by Kaleidoscope's passion and plans for The Last Survivors and we're looking forward to seeing the film reach a global audience.”

Discussing both titles, Stern Added: “We are very excited to be launching sales on Adam Green’s latest work of terror and Tom Hammock’s accomplished first feature.  They are both terrific genre films with a distinctive quality and marketability.”

Also premiering for KFD is sports documentary, LIFE IN EXTREMES.  From Director Sascha Kollnreitner and Producer Carl Hollman, it is an intense and kinetic insight into the danger-filled lives of three extreme sportsmen – a base jumper, a free diver and an extreme cyclist - that delves deep into their single-minded motivations and reasons for continually pushing the boundaries.
