IMR International sells the international rights for Orlando Bloom’s S.M.A.R.T. Chase at the AFM

IMR International, the foreign sales company formed in Cannes between Insiders’ Vincent Maraval and MadRiver Pictures’ Marc Butan and Kim Fox, announced today that they will introduce BAFTA winner Charles Martin’s S.M.A.R.T. Chase starring Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings franchises) to foreign buyers at the upcoming American Film Market (AFM).  S.M.A.R.T. Chase is fully financed by Bliss Media, with Wei Han producing alongside 42’s Ben Pugh. Bliss Media will oversee the Chinese distribution while CAA packaged and represents the film’s domestic rights.

The action-adventure co-stars Hong Kong Film Award winner, Simon Yam (Echoes of the Rainbow, PTU, Election), popular model-actress Hannah Quinlivan (Gentle Bullet), Lynn Hung (“Ip Man” series), teenage heartthrob Lei Wu (The Wonder), Golden Horse winner Jing Liang, 4th generation martial artist Yanneng Shi, veteran actors Da Ying and Rong Chang, and Bliss Media artists Tom Zixuan Bai, Wenjun Zhang and Ruoxi Wang.

IMR International’s Vincent Maraval said: "S.M.A.R.T. Chase is a clever action packed movie for young audiences. It will bring the international audience through an unknown traditional and super modern Shanghai at full speed. S.M.A.R.T Chase will be the most original and innovative rollercoaster of 2017."

S.M.A.R.T. Chase, which recently wrapped production in Shanghai, follows Danny Stratton (Bloom), a washed-up private security agent, who is given the rare opportunity to escort a valuable Chinese antique out of Shanghai but is ambushed en route. With the safety of the woman he loves in jeopardy, Danny not only has to work together with his team of experts to save her, but also needs to outsmart the ultimate mastermind behind everything, while evading the police, rescuing the vase and restoring his reputation to its former glory.

Bliss Media recently co-financed and executive produced Pablo Larraín’s Jackie starring Natalie Portman and acquired the Chinese distribution rights to Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge starring Andrew Garfield. With offices in Shanghai and Los Angeles, Bliss Media Ltd. is a production and distribution company tasked with creating opportunities for Chinese companies to directly participate in the investment, production and distribution of international films. The company also owns a stake in Insiders, alongside Wild Bunch and Cine France and launched the Yoozoo Bliss Film Fund (YZBFF), a $100 million equity fund designed to finance ten international productions and Chinese co-productions over five-years.

IMR International is a Los Angeles-based joint venture which handles international sales across all MadRiver Pictures’ and Insiders films. The slate includes: Hallie Meyers-Shyer Home Again starring Reese Witherspoon; David Robert Mitchell’s Under the Silver Lake starring Dakota Johnson and Andrew Garfield; Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s Kings starring Daniel Craig and Halle Berry; Pablo Larrain’s Jackie; Jeff Nichols’ Loving; Taran Killam’s Why We’re Killing Gunther; Lynne Ramsay’s You Were Never Really Here starring Joaquin Phoenix; Taylor Sheridan’s Wind River starring Jeremy Renner; and Sean Penn’s Flag Day.

42 is a management & production company based in London, formed in January 2013 by four partners: producers Rory Aitken and Ben Pugh; and managers Josh Varney and Kate Buckley.   Previous credits include the BAFTA-nominated feature film Shifty, London-based crime thriller Welcome to the Punch; Future releases include: Eran Creevy’s Collide; The Autopsy of Jane Doe, directed by Andre Ovredal; Sand Castle directed by Fernando Coimbra; and The Titan starring Sam Worthington and Taylor Schilling.   42’s actor roster includes Michael Caine, Nicholas Hoult, Rhys Ifans, Rupert Friend, Jonny Lee Miller and Writers and directors represented include William Monahan, Eran Creevy, Tom Harper and Lynne Ramsay.
