Guy Pearce To Headline Exorcism Movie “The Seventh Day” - Voltage Pictures Handling at AFM 2019

Guy Pearce (MEMENTO, THE ROVER) is set to star in FANGORIA’s new horror movie THE SEVENTH DAY which is pitched as TRAINING DAY meets THE EXORCIST and will begin production in January 2020. Voltage Pictures is handling international sales at this year’s ongoing American Film Market in Santa Monica.

Justin P. Lange will direct his own script, in which a renowned exorcist teams up with a rookie priest for his first day of training. As they plunge deeper into hell on earth, the lines between good and evil blur, and their own demons emerge.

“This is a story about the rising spread of a pervasive evil. We live in an increasingly dark world, one where it’s difficult to know who to trust, or what to believe. It’s a scary time, and scary times call for scary movies,” Lange shares.

He adds, “Guy Pearce is an extraordinary talent – that rare combination of bona fide movie star and consummate artist. I can’t wait for audiences to see what he has in store for them with this role.”

Lange’s award-winning first feature THE DARK premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival to much critical acclaim and was nominated for a FANGORIA Chainsaw Award for Best First Feature in 2019.

Dallas Sonnier (DRAGGED ACROSS CONCRETE) & Amanda Presmyk (VFW) are producing for CINESTATE & FANGORIA. Kimberly Hwang (LUCKY) & Chelsea Davenport are also producing. Voltage Pictures CEO Nicolas Chartier and President and COO Jonathan Deckter are executive producing, alongside Adam Donaghey (A GHOST STORY), Phil Nobile Jr (HORROR NOIRE) and Danielle Cox (THE STANDOFF AT SPARROW CREEK). David Guglielmo is casting.

Pearce is represented by CAA and attorney David Weber. Lange is represented by UTA, 3 Arts Entertainment and attorney Jonathan Gardner.

FANGORIA is the iconic horror film fan magazine with a die-hard fan base, in publication since 1979. FANGORIA was acquired by CINESTATE, the Texas-based production company run by producer Dallas Sonnier, who re-launched the magazine as a print-only quarterly collectible while extending the franchise into movies, podcasts, books, live events, and website aggregation. FANGORIA has produced four feature projects to date: PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH (2018), SATANIC PANIC (2019), VFW (2020), and CASTLE FREAK (2020).

CINESTATE is the Dallas-based entertainment studio established in 2016 by CEO Dallas Sonnier. Ideologically and creatively separate from the movie studios of the coasts, CINESTATE is committed to a creator-centric model of independent storytelling. CINESTATE is known for S. Craig Zahler’s cult hits BONE TOMAHAWK (2016), BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99 (2018), and DRAGGED ACROSS CONCRETE (2019), as well as the 2019 indie success THE STANDOFF AT SPARROW CREEK.

Chartier and Deckter were executive producers on the project.
