GEMMA ARTERTON AND ELIZABETH DEBICKI STAR PROTAGONIST PICTURES HANDLING FILM AT AFM Vita & Virginia is the true story of the passionate relationship between literary trailblazer Virginia Woolf (Elizabeth Debicki) and her only lover, the enigmatic author Vita Sackville West (Gemma Arterton).
When their paths cross, the magnetic Vita decides the beguiling, stubborn and gifted Virginia will be her next conquest, no matter the cost. The film is a celebration of their unconventional bond, while being a reminder that only genuine connection makes life worth living. Vita & Virginia is a timeless love story, told in a contemporary style, about two women who smashed through social barriers to find solace in their forbidden connection.
Chanya Button directs from a script she co-wrote with Dame Eileen Atkins. The films also stars Isabella Rossellini, Rupert Penry-Jones and Peter Ferdinando and is produced by Evangelo Kioussis for Mirror Productions and Katie Holly for Blinder Films. Executive producers are Simon Baxter, Christopher Figg, Nicolas Sampson, Norman Merry, Dave Bishop and Gemma Arterton. Protagonist Pictures are handling International sales.
