![]() Evolutionary Filmspicked up STRONGER THAN BULLETS, winner of Best Documentary Feature at Woodstock FestivalLondon based production company and sales agent Evolutionary Films are excited to announce that they are now representing STRONGER THAN BULLETS, winner of Best Documentary Feature at Woodstock earlier this month, for international sales.
This engaging feature length documentary begins in Libya in 2011 where amidst the bloody revolution to overthrow the 42-year-old dictatorship of Colonel Gaddafi, a high-octane, defiant music scene and a unified human spirit that encompassed hip-hop, heavy metal, rock, blues (and even country) had emerged. Western music had been banned for decades, heralded by public burning of instruments and under the real threat of imprisonment, torture and death for those who would defy this insanity of oppression.
STRONGER THAN BULLETS follows the musicians as they become the leading voices and figureheads of the revolution. Guitars and guns stand side-by-side during the fighting, the victory and the chaos that has tragically followed. Some paid the ultimate price, dying for what they passionately believed in. And in a cruel twist, the musicians, after gaining a brief moment of freedom of expression, have been forced once again to practice in secret due to the rise of post-revolutionary oppression in Libya.
“For time after time, music has been proven a more powerful and enduring agent-for-change than violence. Oppressors are right to be terrified of music. You can stop a bullet, but you cannot stop an idea,” said Executive Producer Alistair Audsley.
A 47 minute cut of STRONGER THAN BULLETS was broadcast as a segment of Al Jazeera's 'Witness' series on Wednesday 19th October in the UK, but the full length feature cut of this inspirational film, which features previously unseen footage considered too visceral for television, has not yet been released in any territory and will be represented for international sales by Evolutionary Films at the upcoming American Film Market.
Director, Matt Millan, said, "We're delighted to have Evolutionary Films represent ‘Stronger Than Bullets’ for worldwide sales. 'Stronger Than Bullets' has enjoyed an outstanding international festival circuit and we're very excited to be working with a sales and distribution company which is run by genuine film people. It's actually quite refreshing."
“We are privileged to take on this poignant film at a time when there is much turmoil in the world. This documentary gives voice to the bravery of artists living under the most tyrannical of regimes,” said Evolutionary Films EVP of Sales & Acquisitions Ildi Toth Davy.
