Jason Moring, DDI CEO, announced today that DDI acquired worldwide sales rights of comedy feature RIPPED.
RIPPED is the feature directorial debut of Brad Epstein's who has produced GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST, DAN IN REAL LIFE and ABOUT A BOY.
RIPPED stars stand-up comedian Russell Peters (THE JUNGLE BOOK, CHEF), Faizon Love (COUPLES RETREAT, ELF), Kyle Massey (That's So Raven, Fish Hooks) and Alex Meneses (NBC's Telenovela), based on an original screenplay by Brad Epstein and Billiam Coronel.
In addition to Brad Epstein, RIPPED is produced by Ike Suri of Pelican Point Media and Suzanne Weinert and executive produced by Jaclyn Ann Suri of Pelican Point Media and Steven Marmalstein who produced E! Chelsea Lately and currently producing CMT's The Josh Wolf Show. Pelican Point Media film credits include the new CABIN FEVER reboot, Keanu Reeves' EXPOSED and Uma Thurman's THE BRITS ARE COMING.
RIPPED is a comedy that tells the story of two free spirited stoners who, after smoking some top secret pot created by the CIA in 1986, find themselves catapulted into 2016. With 30 years of their lives lost, our now balding and overweight friends use their uncomplicated enthusiasm to get their lives back on track while figuring out a new modern world.
'Brad knows comedy and has surrounded himself with some great comedic talent in Russell and Faizon - who consistently rack up the laughs', said Jason Moring from DDI. 'Russell has a massive global fan base and matched with the strong appeal for buddy comedies, Ripped is sure to deliver.'
