Nick Rowland’s (BAFTA nominated short Slap) anticipated crime family thriller Calm With Horses, had its world premiere debut at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday, September 8th.
The film stars Cosmo Jarvis (Netflix’s “Peaky Blinders,” Lady Macbeth), Barry Keoghan (Marvel’s upcoming The Eternals, HBO’s “Chernobyl,” Dunkirk, The Killing of the Sacred Deer), Niamh Algar (BBC’s “The Virtues”).
Joe Murtagh adapted the script from a short story in Young Skins, an acclaimed collection by Irish writer Colin Barrett.
In rural Ireland, ex-boxer Douglas 'Arm' Armstrong (Jarvis) has become the feared enforcer for the drug-dealing Devers family, whilst also trying to be a good father to his autistic young son. Torn between these two families, Arm's loyalties are truly tested when he is asked to kill for the first time.
Altitude Film Sales is handling international sales along with CAA and DMC Film for US rights.
The feature is a DMC Film (Slow West, Macbeth), Element Pictures (The Favourite, Room), and Film4 production. Produced by Daniel Emmerson. 20.09.2019 | American Film Market Dailies's blog Cat. : FILM
