![]() Brenton Thwaites has been cast as the lead of the action thriller Entry LevelRapidly rising leading man Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales; The Giver) has been cast as the lead of the action thriller Entry Level, it was announced today by producers Craig Perry and Sheila Taylor (the Final Destination and American Pie franchises) of Practical Pictures and Tannaz Anisi, President of 13 Films.
Perry and Taylor will produce with Tom Butterfield (the upcoming The Vault; An Actor Prepares) of Content Media. Dan Spilo of Industry Entertainment will executive produce. The film is set to begin shooting Q1 2017 and recently qualified for the California Film Commission’s Film and TV Tax Credit.
Thwaites stars as Marcus Delany, a young man who mysteriously awakens in a super high-security office building. He is forced by an unknown stranger to complete a strictly timed series of dangerous tasks that implicate him in a deadly crime with global consequences.
Written by Benjamin Hurley, the feature film will be directed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Franck Khalfoun. He recently completed the upcoming Amityville: The Awakening starring Academy Award nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh, which is set for wide release by The Weinstein Company in January 2017.
13 Films is handling international sales on the project and will continue sales at the American Film Market this month.
“We couldn’t be happier to have Brenton as our leading man,” said Perry and Taylor. “Audiences worldwide are going to be thoroughly entertained by this fast-paced action thriller.”
“Brenton is an amazingly talented actor,” said Anisi. “We are beyond excited to see him physically and emotionally anchor this suspenseful script.”
Brenton Thwaites is the Australian born actor whose films include Relativity’s horror hit Oculus; Disney’s box-office smash Maleficent with Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning; and The Weinstein Company’s The Giver with Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges. He will headline in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales alongside Johnny Depp. He is represented by WME and Industry Entertainment.
About Practical Pictures Perry and Taylor founded feature film and television production company Practical Pictures in 2004, after working together at Perry’s previous label Zide/Perry Entertainment. Under both banners, they produced the successful Final Destination horror franchise as well as Universal’s global box office hit American Pie comedy franchise. Other productions include TriStar Pictures’ The Big Hit with Mark Wahlberg; and Warner Bros.’ Cats & Dogs.
Their most recent film is the hit Australian family comedy Oddball, directed by Stuart McDonald and starring Shane Jacobson.
