10 to watch from French Cinema at AFM10 to WatchFor the seventh consecutive year, UniFrance throws the spotlight on ten French talents (including a talented duo) who are attracting acclaim at international festivals and who have now set out to conquer the global marketplace with their films. They have made the headlines at the last Sundance, Berlin, Toronto, Busan and San Sebastián film festivals and/or have received the Cannes or the Annecy label. These ten talents to watch embody the best of recent French cinema with their creativity, their modernity and inventiveness. The eclecticism of their career and the singularity of their works reflect the diversity and richness of French cinema. The Big Hit
French • Comedy • 100 minutes
Etienne, an often out of work but endearing actor, runs a theater workshop in a prison, where he brings together an unlikely troupe of prisoners to stage Samuel Beckett’s famous play Waiting for Godot. When he is allowed to take the convicts on a tour outside of prison, Etienne finally has the chance to thrive. Each date is a new success and a unique relationship grows between this ad hoc group of actors and their director. But soon comes the final performance in Paris.

Successful architect Jeremy Angust is approached on his trip to Paris international Airport by a chatty woman named Texel Textor. She is an outcast who seems to be looking for a captive audience she forces to listen to her strange stories. Jeremy misses his flight because of Texel, and once seated in the lounge area, he will not be able to get rid of the annoying stranger. Although the meeting seems fortuitous, soon the nature of this encounter turns into something much more sinister and criminal.
