November 6th a very relaxed and charismatic State Secretary of Culture talked to the press over coffee and champagne by the pool of the Caesar Business Hotel, the best in town of Manaus.

PHD Harvard MBA lawyer graduate described himself as apolitical, but passionate and fierce as a lion about Culture and the accomplishments he made towards handing cultue to the people.

He described how his actions had been judges and which effect they had on the political level and for th epeople of Amazonas.
He also mentionned he was preparing something outsanding for next WorldCup, Manaus is one of the 12 host cities. expect people to "hang from the clouds", whatever that is , it definitely sounds fun.

The Theatre Amazonas and the music aare pivotal to the cutlural policy of the state, probably the most active and prolific of any state in Brazil. It encompasses all forms of arts Music, film, painting, traditional arts, preservation...

He also serves as managing director of Amazonas Film Festival which he created 9 years ago with french partner Lionel Chouchan (founder of many festivals such as Deauville, Avoriaz, Cognac, Gerardmer, Beaunes...)

He explained that Le Public System helped them launch the festival and for 6 consecutives years, a drastic cut in budget made it impossibile to continue but he says "we learnt everything from them and continue the great job"

My perspective tells me that the focus is now on Brazil  (and so it should be)  than big stars from the festival circuit or from the USA.
