Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

François Ozon presents his new adaptation of Albert Camus "The foreigner" as ald premiere at Venice International Film Festival

Ozon is presenting as part of the official selection a new adaptation for the big screen of one of the most complex novels of the 20th century.

"L'étranger" by Alexandre Camus is difficult to translate into images, and even Luchino Visconti, with his 1967 adaptation, could not escape unscathed.

Great actors, great cinematography and a modern look on existentialism and still "The Stranger" is not the best film of this year competition.

But in its radical and almost too faithful adherence to the novel, it succeeds in creating a new perspective, a contemporary and moving look on colonial Algeria and creates compassion with the simple man who can not escape his destiny.

And we? Can we excape our destiny? A philosophical film with many layers and an invite to rethink existence.
