Focus on Munich-The Bavarian Film Awards and the Black White Ball Munich Stories

While Davos and the World Economic Forum was in the middle of attention January 20-24, attracting the showbiz besides politicians, business people, lobbyists and FinTech enthusiasts like the Swiss founders of the "House of Trust" or activists like Stephanie zu Guttenberg and Fawzia Koofi, who were attending the high profile conference of the "World Woman Foundation" chaired by it's American president Rupa Dash, the focus was for the following 2 days on Munich.

The following 3 important events took place on January 24-25 in the capital of the Bavarian state: the "Bavarian Film Awards", the "German Film Ball" and the "Black White Ball Munich Stories". I had the priviledge to attend two of them: the "Bavarian Film Awards" and the "Black White Ball Munich Stories".

"September 5" was the big winner of the evening dedicated for the 46 time to the "Bavarian Film Awards" on January 24 at the Prinzregenten Theater in Munich. The historical drama is meanwhile also nominated for the Oscars. The topic of this drama thriller is explosive, as it chronicles the massacre of the Israeli atheletes at the first Olympic Games which took place in Germany after the war. It also remains highly topical view the current political tentions between Israel and Palestine. Directed, co-produced, and co-written by the German filmmaker Tim Fehlbaum it's starring a high profile European cast with Peter Sarsgaard, John Magaro, Ben Chaplin, Leonie Benesch and Zinedine Soualem. The film chronicles the hostage of the Israeli athletes by the Palestinian terrorists from the perspective of the  ABC Sports crew and their coverage of the events.

"The Black White Ball Munich Stories/Schwarz-Weiss Ball Münchner G'schichten", one of the most prestigious society events in Munich, took center stage on January 25, 2025, at the "Paulaner am Nockerberg" in Munich. This annual ceremony organised by Diana Mosler takes place for the 16 time and not only celebrates the remarkable entrepreneurial achievements in the Bavarian capital but also serves as a platform for more significant political discussions.

This year's events were particularly notable for the strong messages delivered by the award recipients, especially by two women: the entrepreneur Dr. Carmen Mayer who presented her new book and podcast "Mom goes millionaire" and the German actress Jella Haase, who was awarded best actress for her role in "Chantal im Märchenland." Haase took the opportunity during her acceptance speech to voice urgent political concerns, captivating the audience with her powerful and emotional statements, which went viral.

I wish the German actress has attended the "Black White Ball Munich Stories" the following day! She could then have started a dialogue  with her poignant remark, "Die echte Welt ist leider keine Märchenwelt" (The real world is unfortunately not a fairy tale), serving as a strong reminder of the challenges our society is facing, contrasting sharply with utopian/better world topics of her award-winning film. For instant, she could have started the conversation and reflections on our society with Dr. Carmen Mayer, "Newcomer of the Year" or Ilse Aigner, Member of the Bavarian State Parliament and former State Minister of Housing, Construction and Transport. Not only is Ilse Aigner a high profile CSU-politician but also the patroness of this fabulous ball which is by all meanings THE event of the Munich society and not to be missed. À la prochaine!
