Art, commerce and new rules of filmmaking - visionary filmmaker Brady Corbet speaks at Cannes Lions

I still remember his impressive debut film I watched in Venice. He made his feature directorial debut in 2015 with The Childhood of a Leader at the Venice Film Festival.

His second feature film, Vox Lux was hailed by critics after it premiered in competition at the 2018 Venice Film Festival, London Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival.

His recent original feature The Brutalist recently won Brady Best Picture and Best Director at the Golden Globes.

Magna Studios filmmaker and award-winning director Brady Corbet (The Brutalist) joins Bloomberg Businessweek Editor Brad Stone to explore the evolving landscape of filmmaking at the intersection of culture and commerce. From directing a critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning film to crafting a high-profile Bloomberg campaign, Corbet reflects on the creative and commercial tensions shaping the industry.

Together, they’ll unpack where the money is, how AI is reshaping creative opportunity and whether the auteur still holds in an era of collaboration. The conversation will also spotlight how a new generation of production companies like Magna are helping filmmakers navigate emerging models, branded partnerships and the boundaries between content and commerce.
