Awards

It is a tradition at Vyborg to have three domestic award-winners backed by the state to boost their distribution; Roskomkino pays for the prints. Paradise, a long-standing festival partner, takes care of promotion and advertising costs. This year the winners were: Summertime People (dir. Sergei Oursulyak), What For? (dir. Jerzi Kawalerowicz) and Unbiased and Compassionate View (dir. Alexander Sukhachyev). Kodak's Moscow office also granted a special prize to boost distribution for two domestic features, Lonely Gambler (dir. Vladimir Basov) and Agape (dir. Gennady Baisak): 50,000m of film stock.

Special awards

The Career of Arturo Ui (dir. Boris Blank) won a special award from festival co-founder REKA. Two documentary sidebar entries, Requiem to Deceased Actors and Sentimental Grotesque, were given special mention by REKA, plus a special prize from the Russian Guild of Film Critics.

Finnish drama entry Thomas received a special award from the mayor of Vyborg.

Special 'Public Admiration' awards were also given to: the late Mikael Tariverdiev for the soundtrack of Summertime People; the documentary Nocturne by Chopin; and to three features: This is Me, A Silly Girl (dir. Zarii Khukhim), Empire of Pirates (dir. Grigor Gyardushyan) and The Fatal Eggs (dir. Sergei Lomkin).
