A selection of the best contenders from VIFF '94 were successfully shown at the Russian Film Festival, held in San Rafael in October 1994. In September 1995 VIFF showed its competition programme in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. 'For us it was both a charitable and a cultural event,' recalls Savva Koulish. 'We had long ticket lines and full houses. It was very touching, since Armenia suffered such a bad economic crisis which ruined TV broadcasting and allows electric light for only an hour a day.' This year's plans are yet to be announced.
