For the fourth time festival fever has broken out among the 87,000 citizens of Vyborg, a Russian timber port on the border with Finland. Cheering crowds of film fans queue for tickets, while in the streets discussions break out about the films to be shown.
Industry people among the festival guests view such scenes with bittersweet feelings. 'Despite the crisis in Russia, this city provides a unique combination of business facilities, a cultural atmosphere and a very enthusiastic audience,' claims Gevorg Nersissyan, co-founder and producer-general of the festival.
