I'm a Russian journalist and a documentary filmmaker. My country is an interesting and remarkable place because of its unique and sometimes extraordinary path.  I travel and discover Russia. Now I want to share some of my amusements with you.

Oma Randa

Modern society has a daunting problem with preserving traditions and languages of small cultures. Many of these cultures fall and become lost in history. In our film we show how Tverskie Karelians preserve their culture and their lifestyle, how they dream to save what is left and how this oppressive desire unites them. These people live in a hidden from extraneous eyes half-abandoned village far away from everything. You won’t see so much devastation or decline here as in an ordinary Russian village. Everything here is warm and touching. One evening villagers gather for a fest. They talk, laugh, sing and dance. They wish their language never to be forgotten and hope to meet again. The atmosphere is so pure that you find peace and wish never to leave this place – just like them. The film is a documentary which represents the life of the village in a context of one day. It shows how the village wakes up in the morning, how villagers milk cows, plant flowers, cook pies, and get prepared for the evening event. They talk about their past and share thoughts. They are so proud of whom they are and you feel so much respect for them. We didn’t want any scandals or sensations in our film. We wanted it to be about people who simply love their land, who work on it and write poems about it. Who have pride and truly inspire.  Sincere love and affection for this place has been passed to us by villagers. We tried to share these feelings trough the film and hope viewers will find warmth in it.
