The ninth edition of the Tokyo International Film Festival Japan's yearly celebration of international, Asian and Japanese movies unspools from 27 September to 6 October.
This year there are more screenings and a better selection of films.

Awards

Grand prize: "Kolya" by Jan Sverak Special jury prize: "In Full Gallop," by Krzysztof Zanussi, and "Libertarias," by Vicente Aranda	Best screenplay: Zdenik Sverak (the father), for "Kolya" Best director: Wu Tianming and Zhu Xu for "The King of Masks"
