The KIDS FIRST! Film Festival in conjunction with the Watkins College of Art, Design and Film in Nashville, TN will offer two scholarships to student filmmakers this year. Five thousand dollar ($5,000) scholarships will be offered in two student filmmaker categories: High School and College Student. The 2nd Annual DWIFF takes place on June 25-28, 2009. Held in Detroit's University Cultural Center and at the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. We'll host activities throughout the region, with a focus on downtown Detroit and the talented people and technology we offer the film and media production industries.
The 9th annual festival will be held from May 1-3 for three days of short films, socializing and great prizes. There will be a $1000 grand prize for best short, as well as individual category prizes.
Short films of any genre are accepted and must be 41 minutes in length or less. Submissions must be made on NTSC DVD or VHS. Submission deadlines are as follows:
Accommodations will be provided to screening filmmakers on a first-come-first-served basis!
The jury declares that this year’s competition presents a broad range of films whose central aim consists in exploring ways to further the interpretation and understanding of important topics of our time.
Therefore the jury has decided to award prizes to those efforts which achieve a balance between the political statement and the poetic form.
