* Today's special CineMart events include the CineMart lunch (1-2 PM) at the Hilton Jardin room and a presentation of projects of the Maurits Binger Institute's first graduating class (5-7 PM). The presentation, which also takes place in the Jardin room is followed by a drink organised by the institute. LP

* UK satellite broadcaster BSkyB has joined forces with the BBC, Carlton and Granada in a bid for three of the six digital "multiplexes" - groups of digital television frequencies - which will next year enable British viewers to choose from 30 channels.

According to The Independent, the new consortium - British Digital Broadcasting - will supply a package of all the existing terrestrial channels, new free channels and a choice of 15 subscription channels.

Owned 40% by Rupert Murdoch, BSkyB already controls the set-top boxes - priced up to 500 - which are necessary for receiving both terrestrial and satellite digital transmissions.

Another major bidder in the race is Digital Television Network, part of the US owned NTL/CableTel Group, which will also include interactive services and Internet access in its offer.

Two groups of frequencies have been assigned to the BBC and ITV-Channel Four, and a third will be shared by Channel 5 and Welsh channel S4C. JRJ

* Joaquin Jorda, director of Rotterdam-screener Un cos al bosc (A Body In The Forest), has announced his next feature will be Milenio, a mid-budget drama shooting in the Canary Islands in June for Spain's Plot Films. Jorda will also direct an ARTE-funded documentary for Barcelona's Pompeo Fabre University. Up to five students will work on the production, which rolls this year. AM

* Pierre Grise Productions, the French production outfit behind Otar Iosseliani's Rotterdam-screener Brigands: Chapitre VII, has delayed shooting on veteran director Jacques Rivette's Famille (Family) until April.

Pierre Grise production representative Francine Bruecher said the Sandrine Bonnet-starrer was awaiting additional funding from Italian and Swiss sources.

The French production outfit partly financed Brigands through Italy's Bim Distribuzione and Switzerland's Carac Film. Family was set to roll for four weeks in Paris and four weeks in France this month. SR

* James Bond will be back in the Royal Navy in the 18th 007 film adventure, on which filming is due to begin within the next two months.

The new film is to be shot in the UK, France and South-East Asia. A theatrical release is currently scheduled for the end of the year. LP

* EFDO, the European Film Distribution Office, is expected to cease its activities before the end of February. The move follows a decision by the Media 2 committee to go with an distribution incentive scheme modelled on France's automatic support system which should be up and running before the end of this year.
