Laurent Bouhnik has been in the business for a long time. He made short films, wrote scripts and was cameraman and producer. With all these different experiences, the 36-year-old Parisian got down to work.
Rotterdam is screening his directing debut. If you don't have the means to permit yourself suitable accommodation, you find yourself in the Select Hotel. It is not a nice place to stay, but a last refuge. The hotel guests do not spend much time there. They prefer to live on the street.
Nathalie and her brother Tof live in the Select Hotel among the whores and beggars and they too prefer the grey asphalt to the four walls of their piteous abode. While Nathalie has to do the most terrible jobs' for her pimp, her brother sets out to steal. Tof finds a pistol in his hotel room, threatens the cleaner Pierre with it and robs him of his money. Pierre wants revenge and doesn't take it lying down. He is dragged down deeper and deeper into the nightlife of Paris. When he meets the blond Nathalie, he is charmed by her, not knowing she is the sister of his attacker. Select Hotel screens tonight (Sunday) at 10.30 in Lantaren 1. BvdG
