The Venus of Willendorf

A psychological thriller about the eating disorder bulimia. That is how Italian director Elisabetta Lodoli (45) describes this film.

Lodoli is a DIY type and La Venera di Willendorf (The Venus of Willendorf) is also largely a one-woman project. She wrote, directed and produced her second film on her own and is also responsible for its distribution.

In this case, this Jack of all trades tackles a typically female problem: bulimia. The marriage of the biologist Elena is on the rocks. During nocturnal hunts for food, she tries to come to terms with his sorrow. Her cousin Ida has a hard time. She is the target of Elena's aggression and gets kicked out of the house. Ida realises what's going on and decides not to give up. She moves into the house over the way and watches events as a 'Peeping Tom'.

The Venus of Willendorf, a small pre-historic statue found in the German village of Willendorf, assumed to be the oldest known depiction of a person, shows a large woman with curvaceous breasts. BvdG
