"Scrappy" was selected to the 5th annual FerFilm Festival in Ferizaj, Kosovo for September 2-6, 2017. Helmed and adapted for the screen by Dawn Westlake, "Scrappy" is based on her father Donald G. Westlake's poem of the same name which won the Studs Terkel Humanities Award in 1999. It recounts a real-life anecdote from Westlake's childhood when he had to stand up to the gun culture in rural Illinois, during the 1930s.
"Scrappy" introduces 5-yr-old actress Nefertina and her dog Kong in their first professional acting roles. Pol Carrizo Vilarroig of Imatge Barcelona shot on the CanonC300 on location in Pine Mountain and Los Angeles, CA, USA. He also edited and did VFX.
GC Johnson of Acoustic Labs, a 2016 Peer Raben Music Award nominee, provided an original score.
