The Amazon Web Services Summit New York 2016 (AWSSNY16) Opening Keynote Presentation with Dr. Werner Vogels, chief technology officer of AWS commenced Thursday, August 11, 10AM at Javits Convention Center. Vogels keynote announcements included the launch of RDS for Aurora, launch of Amazon Kinesis Analytics, creation of executable reference architectures for serverless applications, launch of IPv6 Endpoints for Amazon S3, launch AWS Key Management Service Import Key, the ability to bring your own keys to AWS key managment service; and the Snowball Device, a petabyte-scale for data transport service.
This year’s Amazon customer guest speakers were CTO Chris Lambert, Lyft; DevOps Abby Fuller, Airtime; and CTO Sree Kotay, Comcast. Lambert talked about the use of EC2 servers, the launch of 24 cities in 24 hours with enabled Auto Scaling app, data stores with DynamoDB for ride location tracking system, and Lyft Line a shared drive service using Redshift data warehouse. Fuller discussed the use of Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) at Airtime and Kotay talked about Comcast’s Hybrid Cloud model using Amazon's Simple Notification Service (SNS), Simple Queue Service (SQS), Kinesis for agile development and Amazon XONE product platform.
