Ellen Havenith of PRPL will represent the Netherlands as Producer on the Move at the Cannes International Film Festival (May 13 - 24).
The Producers on the Move networking programme is organised by European Film Promotion (EFP) for the 16th consecutive year at the Cannes International Film Festival. During the four-day event (May 15 - 18) EFP spotlights twenty of the most dynamic emerging producers from across Europe. They have been selected from 29 nominated producers from 29 countries. For the first time the number of participants has been limited to 20 in order to give the event the utmost effect promotion-wise and to build up long-lasting business relations across borders. Top of the criteria for qualifying are international experience in co-producing and theatrical releases outside of the home country. The schedule of Producers on the Move 2015 includes working sessions such as one-to-one speed-dating meetings and various opportunities to exchange knowledge and follow up ideas about future projects.
After graduating in Film and Television Sciences Utrecht University Ellen Havenith worked as a Line Producer for several Dutch companies producing shorts, drama series and feature films. At Column Film she produced 170Hz (first feature by Joost van Ginkel), which won the Audience Award and the Movie Squad Award (16-19yrs) at the Netherlands Film Festival 2011 and was selected for international film festivals including Busan, Seattle, Shanghai and Moscow.
In 2011 Ellen Havenith founded PRPL. The Amsterdam-based company produces films with strong writer/director signatures; fresh, authentic content and form, and aimed at an international audience. At the moment PRPL is working on several titles, including The Paradise Suite, directed by Joost van Ginkel, The Ardennes, a Belgian/Dutch co-production by director Robin Pront, which are currently in post-production and Rehepapp, an Estonian/Dutch/Polish co-production by director Rainer Sarnet, which is now in production.
Previous Producers on the Move from the Netherlands include David Bijker/Harro van Staverden of Bijker Film & TV (2014), Marleen Slot of Viking Film (2013), Trent of NFI Productions (2012), Michael John Fedun of Corrino Media Group (2011), Carmen Cobos of Cobos Films (2009) and Reinier Selen of Rinkel Film & TV Productions (2008).
