The Bagri Foundation will host its first World Cinema Club of 2015 at Asia House on Tuesday 17th March 2015 from 6.45-8pm, which you may be interested in attending.
The aim of the club is to promote a deeper engagement with films from around the planet at meetings that are engaging, informative and enjoyable. This session turns its attention to Indian Cinema with a talk by the respected film expert, Sangeeta Datta.
Accompanied by clips from important films, this talk will unlock Indian cinema and explore Who is the real Indian woman? This discussion explores how art house, regional and independent cinema has found ways to represent real female characters in multiple ways. It also examines crucial issues of sexuality and power, and how rural and urban, national and global reflections offer a more nuanced account of women in India today.
