About 70 workers were picketing (during the festival) in front of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Montreal, the home and hot spot of the Festival.Their main points of contention surround shift work. Staff are not happy with the four-hour shifts that some get. They are also against a hotel rule that says they must have a 12-hour gap before their next shift.
While the negotation for new contracts were in process the management asked them to not wear their union scarf while working. They decided to leave work and start a strike july 28.We talked to them to know more about it.
PS the pool was closed ...GRRRRRRRÂ
