MPAA names names

Los Angeles The Motion Picture Association has named its board of directors for 1997, which will be presided over by MPAA president and ceo Jack Valenti.

The board for 1997 includes Lew Wasserman, Frank Biondi, Ron Meyer, Sandy Climan and Howard Weitzman to represent the interests of MCA/Universal; Frank Mancuso, Bob Pisano, Michael Hope and Bill Jones for MGM/UA; Alan Levine, Fred Bernstein and Dennis Miller for Sony; Ted Turner, Alan Horn, Robert Shaye and Scott Sassa for Turner Pictures; Rupert Murdoch, Chase Carey, Peter Chernin, Preston Padden and Bill Mechanic for 20th Century Fox; Jonathan Dolgen, Sherry Lansing, Kerry McCluggage and Bill Bernstein for Viacom/Paramount; Michael Eisner, Michael Ovitz, Sandford Litvack, Joe Roth and John Cook for Walt Disney; and Robert Daly, Terry Semel and Barry Meyer for Warner Bros.

In a separate announcement, Walt Disney announced Tuesday that it had added a Catholic priest, Father Leo O'Donovan, to its board. O'Donovan is currently president of Georgetown University.
