Mexico City Columbia TriStar Home Video will begin direct operations in Mexico on 1 July with the opening of its new offices in Mexico City. The office will directly handle the marketing and sales of all Columbia TriStar Home Video rental and sell-through titles to the Mexican market.

"We are excited about being the first studio-affiliated home video company to commence its own operation in Mexico," William Chardavoyne, executive vice president of Columbia TriStar Home Video told Moving Pictures. "Until recently, the Mexican home video market was very buoyant. We expect the current economic situation to reverse itself and for the home video market to grow above previous levels."

The first slate of titles include Desperado, Magic in the Water, and the sequel to Annie, Annie: A Royal Adventure starring Joan Collins.
