London John Mount has been appointed as new director of cinema at London's Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) and director of ICA Projects distribution.

Mount was formerly deputy head of programme planning at the National Film Theatre, and replaces Simon Field, who is going on to be director of the Rotterdam Film Festival.

The ICA has led the way in UK distribution in recent years, bringing the best of independent international cinema to London audiences - films like Ju Dou, Chungking Express, The Kingdom and Silences of the Palace, which is playing at the Prague International Film Festival this week.
