Viaggi di Nozze is the story of three different marriages: that of a rich, successful surgeon, obsessed with his career, apparently kind but actually a miser, indifferent to the most elementary needs of the people closest to him; then an ignorant, vulgar and coarse bully; then a man crushed by the arrogance of the people surrounding him. A windbag priest, played by director Carlo Verdone himself, celebrates an endless Mass.
His melancholy touch is evident particularly in the first story, in which the great physician marries for the third time, taking a young woman (Veronica Pivetti) on whom he inflicts such a terrible honeymoon that she ends by committing suicide. Also worth mentioning is the episode of the bully obsessed by the desire to make love to his young wife in the weirdest situations, for example driving at 200 kmh, or in the corridors of a hotel.
All these portraits turn out to be much more eloquent than they might seem at first sight.
A well shot and nicely paced movie, it offers the audience a few laughs, plenty of smiles and lots of food for wistful consideration.
