Nadie hablará de nosotras cuando hayamos muerto
(Nobody Will Talk About Us When We're Dead)
Spain,
Agustín Díaz Yanes

There are easier films to watch than this one,ī' Agustín Díaz Yanes points out, talking about his noisy, fast-paced directing debut, "But I'd like people to be moved and excited, and to think a little about the state of Spain. I have tried to make a film for people to reflect on."

In Mexico City, Spanish prostitute Gloria Duque (Victoria Abril) witnesses the murder of a policeman who has infiltrated a gangster ring. Just before he dies, the policeman gives Gloria the Madrid address where the bad boys keep their money.

She is then followed to Madrid by yellow-suited gangster Eduardo Gúzman (Federico Luppi), who has instructions to get the money and make Gloria disappear.

"I wanted to make a realistic film," Díaz Yanes says, "but if it was only this, it would have been too ... [he hunts for the word] ... brutal. So I put the gangsters in.

Itīs a mix of the US cinema that I like - Scorsese, etc. - and the Italian neo-realism of Rossellini and Visconti. Some people said it was a dangerous mix."
