AWARDS
For
the close of the Paris Film Festival, an auditorium holding 3,800
welcomed the many personalities attending the award ceremony and
the final world premiere screening of Alexandre Arcady's Là
bas, mon pays. The masters of ceremony were the festival
president Daniel Toscan du Plantier and Line Renaud.
The Short Film Award went to La part d'ombre by
Yvon Marciano, who alternates between feature and short
films. The Press Prize went to Ed Radke's The Dream Catcher,
already well honored at numerous other festivals. The Audience
Prize went to Amy by Nadia Tass, the story of a young deaf and
dumb girl.
The official competition jury headed by Faye Dunaway gave a Special
Mention to Karin Julsrud's Bloody Angels, while
Best Actor went to Billy Crudup in Jesus' Son and
Best Actress to Zhou Xun for her role in Suzhou River.
The
Special Jury Prize went to André le magnifique,
and the festivals Grand Prize winner was Suzhou River
by Lou Ye, another film raking in the prizes on the year 2000
festival circuit.
