Stallone is finishing work on Miramax's highly anticipated Copland in which he stars alongside Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta.
HBO's movie-of-the-week, Gotti, the true story of the New York mobster, became the top rating programme in the US in the 20 million homes that can receive the network when it premiered in primetime on 17 August.
Gotti, directed by Robert Harmon and starring Armand Assante, William Forsythe and Anthony Quinn, scored a 29 share among the households, more than the three major broadcast networks combined.
Gotti is HBO's highest rated original this year and the third highest made-for-TV movie in either broadcast or cable for 1996. It brought HBO its best telefilm numbers since Attack of the 50ft Woman in December 1993.
