International Media Resources, the New York and Florida based marketing and promotion firm, in conjunction with Raindance, has launched Soho Screenings a new service to help international sellers preview their films in London from 21-25 October, the week prior to Mifed.
IMS has reserved screening venues in London including the Metro Cinema 1 and 2; the Rank Screening Room and the Prince Charles Theatre.
'Pre-Mifed London screenings have increased in popularity over the years,' International Media Resources' Sandy Mandelberger told Moving Pictures. 'For many international buyers it is a must to screen in London before going on to Milan. That is why the large companies have been doing this for years. Soho Screenings finally provides a cost-effective way to participate without paying exorbitant rates and needing staff in London.'
The International Raindance Film Showcase, of which the fourth edition runs in London from 19 to 25 October, also announced a new Fujifilm Cinematography Award, which gives the winner £2,000 (US$3,000) worth of Fujifilm stock. Raindance, which expects to screen some 70 feature films during the pre-Mifed week, is the only festival in the UK dedicated solely to independent film.
