With Casino already garnering press coverage and tickets for the final gala as rare as the philosopher's stone, it's time to highlight other festival offerings for this final weekend. Two Guardian Interviews are scheduled, one with maverick Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodovar on Saturday and the other with John Mills, the great leading man of British cinema, on Sunday. One film to look out for is Manoel Oliveira's The Convent, screening on Friday. The veteran Portuguese director is one of those few cinematic genius' whose vision is so idiosyncratic that his films rarely get theatrical releases. It could be your only chance to see this film, essentially a study of struggle between good and evil, but so knowing and witty it's hard to know how to take it - at the Cannes press screening it was both booed and cheered. Worth seeing for the chemistry between the two stars - John Malkovich and Catherine Deneuve - alone.
