Babe

Those who managed to get their tickets before it sold out were treated to the unveiling of a film on Sunday (10th) which is destined to become a children's classic . Babe follows the life of an orphaned, talking pig who, adopted by a sheep dog, refuses to accept his bacon 'n' ham destiny in life by becoming a 'sheep pig' and defying the old farmyard adage that 'Pigs are stupid'. Accompanied by a host of characters including Ferdinand the crowing duck and a chorus of mice, Babe the sheep-pig's uplifting tale of struggle against adversity won over the entire audience - which was mainly made up of adults. They welcomed director Chris Noonan to the theatre where he explained the secret for the film's success: while he had pitched it to Universal as a children's film, he made it with adults in mind. Looks like parents will be dragging their offspring to the cinema again.
