Presenting a selection of award winning independent films - features, shorts, animation, documentaries and special tributes, the lineup includes 45 features and more than 100 short films from around the world competing for Jury Award, Audience Award, and the Director's Award. As an opener in celebration of its 50th anniversary, Sunset Boulevard will kick off the event and be followed by other classic anniversary screenings: Great Expectations and Sweet Smell of Success.

Kansas City Filmmakers Jubilee

Now in its 4th year, the Kansas City Jubilee 2000 kicked off this weekend. The program is aimed to enhance the Kansas film community, and to provide a forum for networking and learning for enthusiasts and professionals. The line-up includes seminars on film, acting for the camera, screenings of documentaries, and jazz perfomances. Highlighting the event is the benefit premiere screening Robert Altman's Jazz '34: Remembrances of Kansas City Swing.
