Banff Television FestivalThe 21st annual event will continue the aim to be a source of vision, provide an opportunity for collaboration and be a showcase for innovation. The Festival combines an international program competition with a conference that is attended by industry professionals from around the world. The conference consists of more than 50 hours of workshops, panels and inventive formats that focus on a variety of issues that affect television production, programming and policy. In recent years, special week-long seminar strands have been devoted to New Media and issues of convergence. The principal prize of the Banff Television Festival is the prestigious Banff Rockie, a polished bronze sculpture that is both evocative of the Festival's mountain setting, and emblematic of the highest achievement in program excellence. Banff Rockies are awarded to winning programs in fourteen categories including Animation Programs; Arts Documentaries; Children's Programs; Comedies, Continuing Series, History & Biography Programs, Information Programs, Made-for-TV Movies; Mini-Series; Performance Programs; Popular Science and Natural History Programs; Short Dramas; Social & Political Documentaries; and Sports Programs.

Streaming Media East Conference and Exhibition
12 - 14 June
Hosting over 125 exhibiting companies with the latest in cutting-edge broadband and streaming technologies on display, this conference runs from June 12-14 at the New York Hilton & Towers. The exhibition floor is to be covered with companies showcasing the latest in streaming media technologies, and is considered a hot spot for launching new products and making major announcements. Producer of the event, streamingmedia.com is based in San Francisco and is a diversified media company serving the streaming media and broadband content industry since 1998.

Golden Shower Video Festival
16 - 17 June

Michael BastardSan Antonio, Texas' own underground festival since 1993. Close to 65 films were accepted, for the most part under 30 minutes in length. Although American and notably Texan filmmakers were the most numerous, the videos came from all over the world. In fact, the judging has already taken place and first prize goes to My Country (for internal use only) by Goran Radovanovic of Beograd, Yugoslavia. Second place went to Driving Home by Patrick Flanigan of Westville, New Jersey and third place to The Good Son by Sean McGuire of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Returning to the festival, Gustavo Stebner is presenting Michael Bastard, a narrative drama featuring Rolando Medina (Rolling Tissues) as Michael Bastard, delving into the complexities of human behavior in a Bastard of a love story.
